We all made social distancing work during the Summer and Fall by taking advantage of modern technology and by enjoying more time outdoors with family and friends. The cold winter months have presented new challenges, however. Eating at restaurants that have outdoor patios was an extremely popular and medium risk activity, but that is no longer a possibility for many restaurants.

Despite the winter weather inconvenience, there are still several lower-risk social distancing ideas to stay connected.

**These activities listed below remain lower risk only when masks are worn and 6 feet apart is maintained**

Ice Skating – Outdoor rinks and frozen lakes or lagoons are very popular this year since many indoor rinks are closed! Most locations offer cheap skate rental and have skating aids which allow new skaters a safer and more confident way of learning to skate. Masks or a scarf that covers the lower half of the face should be worn during this activity.

Sledding –This is still a fun activity even for adults!

Snowshoeing – This is a great way to get in a workout and experience nature.

Skiing – Many ski lodges and skiing areas are limiting the number of guests allowed at a time so there is less wait time for the chairlifts and more time to spend on the slopes!

Snowboarding – If you have never tried snowboarding, this can be a fun activity to practice on a regular sledding hill with friends.

Errands – Time your errands with your friends so you can meet up at the same store and shop together.

Order Hot Chocolate To-Go And Walk Around With Friends – Hot chocolate is a staple during winter! Many cafes still aren’t open for in-restaurant dining, but you can always grab your cocoa to go and walk around outside with friends – as long as proper distance is maintained and masks are worn when you’re not sipping on your drink.

Host A Video Game Tournament – Stay connected with your headset – no mask required as long as each player that’s not part of the same household is playing from their own residence.

Host A Board Game Tournament Over Video Chat – No mask required for this fun activity and you can finally see each other’s smiles 😊
